Wilderness camp

No mobile signal – at last.
The ICEHOTEL and wilderness camps make a perfect combination if you want to explore the wilderness and challenge yourself. Remote and relaxing – but within reach of civilisation. All the wilderness camps are situated along the unexploited Torne River. Accommodation is offered either self-catering or with a camp host, who can look after individuals or groups.

Kuossanjarga wilderness camp
Our largest camp is located about three kilometres upstream from Jukkasjärvi. It is ideal for short-term arrangements that focus on wilderness cuisine. The camp is easy to reach by riverboat, canoe or a short hike. Paddling and shorter safari excursions to study the flora, fauna, birdlife and midnight sun can also be arranged.
Luspen wilderness camp

If you’ve never spent the night in the wilderness, Luspen is the perfect spot to start your adventure. You can reach the camp by riverboat and a simple hike, or by jet-boat or inflatable rafts that bring you all the way to the camp. Don’t forget to try the genuine wood-burning sauna. From here you can opt to hike back to Jukkasjärvi or continue your journey by white-water rafting down the unexploited national river in search of peace, quiet and fishing.

Pounojokki wilderness camp

The campsite is home to some of the Torne River’s finest fishing waters that promise both grayling and salmon trout. Rapids and currents alternate over a distance of about 20 kilometres. There’s a wood-burning sauna and a swimming jetty. You reach the camp either by inflatable raft that pulls up alongside the jetty or by car followed by a 20-minute walk.
