Fun with ice and snow
Here you'll find a selection of our most popular activities such as Ráidu, a taste of Sami culture, or Ice driving - last winters great success! Or why not try ice sculpting - a must when visiting ICEHOTEL. Here in Jukkasjärvi the snow lies a metre deep more than half the year. This invites to a number of exciting winter adventures.

Try your hand at ice sculpting; an absolute must when you visit ICEHOTEL. With the right tools and professional guidance you are introduced to the magical world of ice sculpting. Feel the creative juices flow in the company of friends as you work together.
Ráidu - a taste of Saami culture

Ráidu - Sami culture & reindeers
Get a taste of the Sami lifestyle, rich culture and learn more about the reindeer. Includes traditional Sami food served by an open fire in a Sami tent and transfers to and from the camp. This activity is approved under the Nature’s Best scheme.

Dog-sled excursion with coffee break - 1,5 hrs
In Jukkasjärvi and its environs, there are more dogs than people. Seat yourself comfortably in the sled and head silently into the wilderness. Includes stop for coffee and cake over a campfire.

Special tour: exclusive dog-sled tour with a visit to the kennels.

A more lengthy excursion, truly reminiscent of The Call of the Wild. This excursion also includes a two-course lunch served outdoors or in a cabin, depending on the temperature and weather conditions. The excursion is rounded off with a visit to the kennel, including a guided tour, before transfer back to ICEHOTEL.

Wilderness tour focusing on elk
Might be the photo opportunity you'll always remember! If the circumstances are right, as you travel be minibus to the elk's winter pastures, there might be some greatfootage waiting for you. The elk is the second largest species of deer in the world and an often spotted in our neck of the woods. Bring along a spear battery for the camera and hopefully they will pose for you.

Starlit dinner in wildernesscamp
Visit the Esrange Space Center, the base for scientific research of the Aurora Borealis, also know as the Northern Lights. After a short transfer by minibus to Esrange space base you will get a guided tour of the facilities and an introduction to the Northern Lights. Our chef prepares a 3-course wilderness dinner with wine while you look for the Northern Lights with star binoculars.
Snowshoe tour

Combo ski/snowshoe tour

You’ll choose the gear for the day; skis or snowshoes when you meet up with the guide. Coffee/tea and homemade cake is served in a small windshelter. The guide will give instructions and afterwards you’ll find your way back, on marked trails, to ICEHOTEL in your own pace. Choose between a tour with transfer to the windshelter or a tour with a guide all the way.

Ranger Razer safari

We offer you Polaris Ranger Razer, a side by side ATV. We drive through dense pine forrests and over lakes, frozen rivers to one of our wildernesscamps. You will be served lunch berfore returning to the ICEHOTEL. We try our skills on the track, maybe you time yourself or compet with your fellow drivers.

Ice driving

The ice awaits, engine revving, snow flying. Behind the wheel of a Saab 9-3 Sport Combi you finally get the chance to try out the safety systems in a way you never could on a normal road. You get a fantastic sensation of total control as everything you’ve learned works perfectly.

 

Arranged on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Downhillskiing in Björkliden

Downhillskiing in Björkliden Ski resort

The guide will meet you and take you by car west, towards Björkliden Ski resort. Here awaits a whole day of skiing in the slopes and hopefully with beautiful weather. At the resort our skiing instructor shows us the system of slopes and the ski lifts and cool runs. We return to ICEHOTEL late in the afternoon.
