Suite 308
Contemplative flow

‘I prefer to work in a way that the idea is born in the room. The base ideas change through out the journey. The room is born from the thought of comfort and contemplative flow.

Inspired by a sensual book about a french tight-rope walker ’snow’, complemented by the Japanese poet Soesiks. In our mind the book was a poem, painting, calligraphy, dance, and piece of music all in one. ‘She began to smile and Soesiks promised his heart. Snow searched for no one, yet found Soesiks gesture so beautiful that he captivated her. A child was born and they named her ’Spring Snowake’’.

You honoured guests who sleep in this suite if you would like, read the story that gave a soul to this room and that will return to the Torne River in the spring.

Invite the night to caress you and carry you to the mornings waking in snow and ice that is longing after the water.’

Bengt Carling

Bengt Carling is a ’Homo ludens’, a person who plays. Music, dance, poetry, form, colour, light, sound, happiness, openness and love are all important ingredients in the recipe for his creation. ICEHOTEL ful€ls Bengt’s main theme. ’Temporary pleasure’, that which disappears like life itself, like a lust €lled dinner, improvised music, or a composted Nobel Dinner. The clink of ice, an eatable glass, wind and sun as the fuel for a pancake machine, a geodesic dome of cardboard, an elephant that ies a kite, a masochistic €nger piano of cactus. Winter cold gives birth to ice, snow, silence; gives life, lust, movement, beauty, presence and borderlessness.
