Suite 301
Humankind

‘Humankind’ explores the need for both chaos and order in human life.

Humans have a strong desire to shape and control the space in which we live, yet we seldom allow chaos to dominate the architecture of our living spaces.
In this suite chaotic expressions of tension and stress are combined with elements of calm and stability. This symbolizes importance of living in moderation. If humankind is to survive in the natural world we must €nd a balance between work & leisure, man-made and natural, chaos and order.

Jörgen Westin

Jörgen Westin is an Industrial Design graduate from the Institute of Design in Umeå, Sweden. Most of Jörgens design work is based on problem solving, in areas such as functionality, ergonomics and semiotics.

Over the past five years Jörgen has been developing product concepts in collaboration with Swedish companies such as Electrolux, Ericsson and ABB. Although Jörgen is strongly driven by function, he also enjoys experimenting with free-form sculptures, both €gurative and abstract, in a wide range of materials including timber, concrete, snow and ice.

His most recent sculptural works explore twisting and turning forms inspired by tangled knots.
