Suite 323
Cave

‘‘The idea for the suite came from those childhood memories and our visits to the wonderful world of caves. You will find incredible formations where the water has carved out the limestone. Typical wavelike patterns appear on the walls.

Potholes start to form when a rock is trapped in a whirlpool and begins to turn around and around. From the ceiling stalactites grow and from the floor stalagmites reaches up to join into a pillar.

The process takes a thousand of years but we will try to work a little faster and hopefully capture some of the beauty of this exciting world.’’

Ulrik Kalla & Anna-Lena Hallergren

Both born in Kiruna, Ulrik and Anna- Lena grew up with the long arctic winters and the snow and ice as natural ingredients in their lives. As children they found many ways to play with these elements. One of the most exciting was to build snow caves. On finding a good pile of snow they would all dig in and meet in the center of the pile. Then they formed a cave and placed candles in the walls. Even if it was freezing outside it would always be warm inside the cave. These childhood experiences are the inspiration for their work.
