Taonga, Māori for “treasure,” lets us enjoy and appreciate the elements around us, with ice serving as a stage on which light can dance and sing on patterned form.
Aotearoan sculptor, designer and art teacher Roger Thompson has sculpted in Sicily, Canada, China, Macedonia, Sweden and Aotearoa. Roger’s creations come to life in stone, wood, metal and ice. For the last twenty years, he has taught collage art classes. ‘Taonga’ is Roger’s first suite for ICEHOTEL.
