Activities in summer and fall
Jukkasjärvi in summer is a paradise to nature lovers and active holiday enthusiasts; mild temperatures makes it ideal for hiking, cycling, wild life watching and running. Though now in its fluid form, we are just as passionate about water experiences and the Torne River, which is really our specialty. River rafting, stand up paddle surfing, fishing, canoeing and sauna are some of the favorites. You can also rent your own equipment at Icehotel.
The surroundings offer plenty of interesting and beautiful hikes. Make a midnight sun excursion, go for a bush survival walk about, or explore one of the mountain ranges in the world, Skanderna, once believed to have surpassed the Himalayas in height. The remnants of the Leppäkoski mine from the 1600’s nestling in the depths of one of Europe’s northernmost pine moors is another worthwhile walk.

Traditional food in a rustic environment
The rustic Homestead (Hembygdsgården) has a special place in the heart of Jukkasjärvi locals. In the timbered building dating back to 1768, which is also a museum, an open fire is crackling in winter, and the porch overlooking the calm passing of Torne river is a welcome spot for drinks and meals in summer.
Welcome to Icehotel and Jukkasjärvi!
