The scheme for this year’s ABSOLUT ICEBAR JUKKASJÄRVI is dominated by three colossal, blue ice arches. This simple, yet bold statement, transforms two independent vaults into one common space. The bar terminates in walls of clear ice that themselves glow as they hang on to the light passing through them, bathing the space in a diffused, natural daylight.
ICEHOTEL Architect Åke Larsson collaborates on this anniversary ICEHOTEL ice bar with Swedish design partnership, Mats Nilsson and Jens Thoms Ivarsson. The work of Thoms & Nilsson challenges our perceptions of the everyday, be it a street bench or a dustbin, and invites us to consciously interact with the practical, everyday objects that we normally take for granted.
