Every hotel worth mentioning has its grand gesture, the hotel lobby or hall, and ICEHOTEL acknowledges this tradition handsomely with a Main Hall as pure and simple in its design, as the material from which it is made. Walking inside from the reception, you are greeted by six pairs of monumental columns, connecting the snow floor with the snow ceiling. Three crystalline ice chandeliers and beneath the largest of these; four generous low benches where visitors can have a seat and take in this magnificent and surreal place.
Arne Bergh and Anders Eriksson, both originally from Uppsala, are old friends. Anders, a dedicated craftsman to traditional carpentry, seems to enjoy himself in this change of medium. As the Artistic Director of ICEHOTEL, Arne´s enormous contribution could be noted on in each suite as he is involved in almost every design detail at ICEHOTEL. This is not the first time they have collaborated on the Main Hall together and hopefully, it won´t be the last
