Landscape
Elin Julin & Ida Mangsbo, Sweden.
Welcome to ICEHOTEL. The first things you will see are these strangely moving walls of snow. How did they get there, and where are going ?
This installation symbolizes the essence of the perishable Swedish winter, in which the waters steady cycle makes it change form and shape a thousand times. 'Captured in motion' represents a frozen moment of the waters motion towards Torne River and the movement of the Northern light over pitch black skies.
Elin Julin and Ida Mangsbo are Landscape Architects and good friends who met during University studies. They have recently begun their careers in Linköping at Länsstyrelsen Östergötland and in Örebro at Sweco Architects, Sweden. Now they have another important thing in common besides their obsession of trees and chocolate: the love for ice and snow and extremely cold weather.
