Conference under the Midnight sun
At Kiruna Airport you are met by your guide who will accompany you on the bus journey to the village of Jukkasjärvi, 200km north of the Arctic Circle. This village has for many centuries been a meeting place for the Sami people and for hunters in the region. In fact, the name Jukkasjärvi means meeting place in the Sami language.
In Jukkasjärvi you are equipped with waterproof clothing before you travel to nearby Ahamukka, which is the starting point of your river rafting expedition. The water of the magnificent free flowing Torne River is crystal clear and as you glide with the current through the wilderness, you pass many rapids and minor falls.
In the afternoon you reach the camp where you will be spending the night. Accommodation is in log cabins which are cosy and comfortable, despite lacking running water and electricity. After an enjoyable dinner, relaxation is offered in front of the open fire, or in the traditional hot sauna.
The next morning your expedition along the river continues, and there will be many unforgettable moments before your reach the pick-up point where a coach is waiting to bring you back to ICEHOTEL. In Jukkasjärvi you visit the ICEHOTEL Productions. Just like ICEHOTEL itself, the ice factory remains at a constant temperature of minus 5°C . Guided tours are arranged daily at ICEHOTEL Productions for our summer guests. Join us to hear the fascinating story of ICEHOTEL!
There is a wide range of activities on offer at ICEHOTEL; you can visit a Saami village and learn more about this interesting aboriginal culture, you go on a helicopter ride admiring the highest mountain in Sweden and the midnight sun, or simply enjoy the magnificent wilderness surrounding ICEHOTEL on foot or by canoe.
After an active day you will enjoy a gourmet dinner at the Old Homestead. When you board your return flight the following day you will have memories to last a lifetime!
