Unique reindeer sledding tours
Nutti Sámi Siida is the only company offering reindeer sledding tours where every guest handles and drives her/his own reindeer with a sled through the taiga forests and across the mountains in order to experience the traditional way of transporting in Sápmi, the land of the Sámi people.
Sámi people have been using reindeer and sleds for transportation of people and equipment for hundreds of years. Here you can go on “try out” tours or unique and exclusive week-long reindeer sledding expeditions where traditional Sámi knowledge always forms the base of the experiences.
- Our tours go to the mountain areas with spectacular and breathtaking views, and for many people, it will be a memory they will carry with them throughout their lives, "says Nils Torbjörn Nutti. During summer various hiking trips are on offer led by knowledgeable Sámi guides who take the guests out to their favourite spots to tell them from a Sámi perspective.
Started in 1997 Nutti Sámi Siida started in 1997 and also offers guided tours and an open-air museum in Jukkasjärvi with buildings and items from the nomadic time and information about the present, as well as reindeer. Last year Reindeer Lodge was inaugurated, a small camp in the woods outside Jukkasjärvi with cabins inspired by the Sámi culture, and reindeer just round the corner. The company also works in close collaboration with ICEHOTEL and the Sámi activities that are part of ICEHOTEL’s range of activities are highly appreciated by the guests.
