How to keep warm
Being properly dressed for the arctic environment is the key to being able to enjoy to the full all the fantastic experiences that await you at ICEHOTEL.
When planning your visit here, you should think in terms of the layer principle. The idea behind wearing several layers of clothing is that air spaces are formed between the layers. These air spaces serve to both insulate and ventilate. Avoid cotton clothing, since cotton binds moisture and therefore has the effect of chilling you instead of warming.
Remember not to shower or take a sauna just before heading off on outdoor activities. And don't use water-based moisturisers on your face since they can cause frost bites. When it's really cold outside, its better to not use any facial creams.
Winter outer clothing such as overalls and boots are included in your stay at ICEHOTEL - free of charge (both cold and warm accommodation). We recommend wearing them, especially during outdoor activities, so you won't risk getting your own clothes damaged.
In addition to this it is very good to bring the "base layer" or thermal underwear meaning long-johns and long-sleeved undershirt, woollen and fleece sweaters, scarf, a warm hat and your own gloves/mittens, as well as plenty of socks and woollen socks.
Choose footwear that is somewhat larger than normal to allow space for socks and/or insoles. This results in a warming air layer inside the shoe or boot to keep you warm for longer. Additional clothing is used at very low temperatures. A down jacket or a thick fleece or wool sweater serves as an effective extra garment.
At ICEHOTEL Shop you will find micro fleece and fleece underlayers, warm fleece sweaters, ICEHOTEL nightcaps in fleece, woolen socks, hats, mittens, balaclavas and much more. You can order the equipment you will need at the same time as you book your visit. The items will be delivered to you when you check in
