Spaceport Sweden has collaborated with ICEHOTEL, Kiruna Airport and Scandinavian Airlink to launch an exclusive space tourism experience that will allow you to get an even closer look at the magical and mythical northern lights.
The Kiruna region is in the so-called auroral oval, the area within which conditions are among the best for observing the Northern Lights.
If you visit us this winter, you can get an even closer look at the magical, mystical Aurora Borealis. Spaceport Sweden has launched a Northern Lights flight that will take you above the clouds. Nowhere else will you have a better chance of witnessing this magnificent phenomenon. The plane takes nine passengers at a time.
Standard Flight Package
Departures: Jan 15, Feb 5, Feb 12 and Feb 19, 2012.
This exclusive flying experience begins at ICEHOTEL with a presentation of the Northern Lights and transfer to the airport. There, a plane seating nine passengers and with a window at each seat is waiting to carry you skyward to a front-row view of the spectacle. After the flight we head back to ICEBAR JUKKASJÄRVI by ICEHOTEL for a Northern Lights drink and a diploma to commemorate the event.

Day 1: Sunday
Our guide will greet you upon arrival and arrange tranfer to ICEHOTEL where you check in to a ICEHOTEL Art Suites. Option to choose from our many activities during the day. Enjoy a three course dinner in ICEHOTEL Restaurant before it is time for takeoff (same flight schedule as for the standard package). After the flight we head back to ICEHOTEL for a Northern Lights drink in ICEBAR JUKKASJÄRVI by ICEHOTEL and everyone recieves a diploma.
Day 2: Monday
Begin the day with a lovely breakfast buffet. Option to choose from our many activities during the day. Transfer to Spaceport Sweden where your return flight takes you back to Stockholm. Departure: 15:35 to Stockholm, arrival 17:10. Alternate departure: 05:50, arrival 08:25 (breakfast is served on the flight).

General
To see northern lights can surely not be guaranteed. The only thing that we can do is to create the best possible prerequisites. If it is cloudy you will defenately not see northern lights from the ground. But there might be a large northern lights activity above the clouds and this is where the northern lights flights come in.
We trust the best available prognoses for sun activities and hence northern lights, but we cannot guarantee northern lights. We guarantee the best prerequisites but wish to point out that there is always a chance of the northern lights not to be visible no matter how good the prognoses.
1) Flights will only be conducted if the northern lights prognoses shows good chances to see northern lights. A limit for this shall be clarified together with the Institue of Space Physics in Kiruna. This judgement is based on as dependable facts as possible aquired from the Institute for Space Physics. Decision will be made 2 days prior to flight. If the flight is cancelled 100% of the price for the northern ligths flight will be repaid and the customer will be informed when decision has been made. Alternative activity can be booked according to ordinary ICEHOTEL pricelist.
2) If a flight is carried out, based on prognoses from the Institue of Space Physics in Kiruna and we still do not see northern ligths, the cost for the northern lights flight will be repaid to customer.
3) Some weather conditions at Spaceport Sweden can prohibit landing and take-off. This is a decision made by the airline according to regulations for commersial air traffic. If cancellation is made due to existing weather conditions 100% of the cost for the northern lights flight will be repaid to the customer.
4) Technical errors that leads to cancelled flights means 100% repayment of the northern lights flight to customer.
5) Charter flight must be booked per request no later than 72 hours before departure and is confirmed according to availability.
6) In all matters regarding cancelled flights ICEHOTEL will offer alternative activities at ordinary price.
