Sally, tell us about your job.
“I work with planning and sales of larger events for groups, conferences and incentives. These account for about 20% of our business at ICEHOTEL. Arrangements are always specially adapted, exclusive and unique for each client. The size of the groups varies from 2 to 800 guests.
That sounds like a hectic job. You must be very busy. “Yes, there's a lot to keep track of. It can seem like an inferno sometimes, an organizational chaos that can be quite confusing for those aren't familiar with it. So many tiny details must be perfect; for example, we have to make sure that the right-sized boots and snowmobile suit are waiting in the room when the guest arrives, that a piece of chocolate has been left on the pillow, that appropriate arrangements have been made for guests with food allergies, and that everything is right on schedule. It's a huge puzzle with thousands of pieces. When it all fits together, the feeling is magical.”
What happens if things don't tally up?
“ICEHOTEL has longstanding experience when it comes to arranging special events. We have clear processes and procedures to ensure that everything goes as planned. Our organization is made up of people who are well prepared and ready to guarantee delivery of the final product. Our guests are delighted with the result.”
When are you busiest?
“At the height of peak season, in March and April. Then, we practically have to work around-the-clock. During that period, many groups from around the world visit Jukkasjärvi. At the same time, we're selling for the coming season. It's an amazingly fun time.”
