Summer activities with Torne River Adventure Center

TRAC is the given place if you are interested in summer adventures, art experiences, delicious meals or just relaxing in tranquil surroundings. Complete with sauna and a Midnight Sun porch, where you can enjoy chilled drinks overlooking the majestic river, TRAC also boasts the brand new Riverside Barbecue, housed in authentic Lavvos (Sami tipi tents). Choose from our chef’s especially selected and locally sourced meats, vegetables and fish and compose a barbecue meal that you grill yourself over the crackling charcoal.

We offer exciting art experiences and wilderness adventures like whitewater rafting, cross country cycling, and Sweden’s northernmost zip line in ICEHOTEL Challenge Park. There is also the opportunity to sleep in -5°C or have a drink ”in the rocks” at Summer ICEHOTEL and ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL Jukkasjärvi, housed inside Art Center which holds sub-zero temperatures year round.

White water rafting

White water rafting with ICEHOTEL is one of the most classic and original water adventures in Europe. The famous stretch dates back to the 1970s when Jukkasjärvi and ICEHOTEL founder Yngve Bergqvist introduced white water rafting tours in Sweden and Europe.

The Torne River has a nearly 400 year old rafting tradition, as it has always been a necessary means of transportation and delivering goods to villages further north or south along the river banks. Equipped with present-day wet suites and inflatables we experience the rapids of Pauranki – a stretch of Torne River feared by all the old rafting men's in the past and one of the highlights of the tour. This tour is suitable for everyone, so join an exhilarating adventure and feel the adrenaline spread from your chest, enjoy the magnificent scenery, the powerful rapids and their history. The tour includes a certified rafting guide, equipment, transportation and refreshments during the car journey back to Torne River Adventure Center.

The tours are carried out with all the necessary safety procedures and qualified rafting captains who have extensive experience as Torne River rafters and trained according to the standards for rafting and first aid as set out by the Swedish Maritime Administration.

XC cycling through the taiga

On this tour we explore the forest trails and untouched wilderness of Jukkasjärvi and the surrounding area on cross country bikes. As we travel through the taiga we might be lucky and spot wild mooses, reindeer, Siberian jays and other wildlife.

This tour is suitable for everyone - depending on how much of a physical challenge you are after, Torne River Adventure Center offers classic XC bikes, or bikes with electric motors giving you a little extra push in the tough ascents and hilly terrain. A hot sauna await as a reward when returning to Torne River Adventure Center. The bikes are available to rent if you would like to carry on exploring the forest trails on your own.

Challenge Park

If you are a fan of adrenline kicks, heights and speed then Torne River Adventure Center’s Challenge Park is a must. This zip- and rope way track takes you as far as 18 meters above ground at the highest point and is one of the most original adventure tracks of northern Sweden. 

The Challenge Park experience is managed by qualified guides and with all the necessary safety procedures in place.

Stand up paddle on Torne River

With roots in the 1960s’ Hawaii, the Stand Up Paddle (SUP) is one of the hottest trends in the surfing and adventure world right now. Standing on a wide surfboard and using a paddle you slowly slide across the crystal clear Torne river. This is a peaceful way of experiencing the tranquility of the Swedish wilderness whilst offering a challenging exercise for your balance and upper body muscles. SUP is known as one of the easiest surfing techniques to learn and Torne River Adventure Center has skilled guides that will help you master the board in no time. 

The tour includes guide, equipment and sauna. SUP equipment is available to rent for the rest of the day if you want to continue refining your skills on your own.

Midnight sun boat ride

Join this nightly excursion for a journey down streams Torne River under the glow of the midnight sun. Travelling in a long wooden boat traditionally used on the versatile waters of the mighty Torne River, the guide shares stories about Jukkasjärvi’s heritage as a settlement.

Take in the tranquil and majestic scenery along the river whilst hearing the tales of local events and characters from the village and the surrounding area.

Grayling & Trout

A full day tour where you will join our experienced fishing guide to the grayling and trout kingdom, Luspen.

Luspen is known among anglers as one of the best grayling and trout waters. This stretch of the River Torne has an amazing variety of rapids and calm waters. By boat we will go to the guide’s favorite fishing spots along the river, with time for a stop for lunch with local delicacies, catch of the day and of course coffee made over the fire. This tour will be a fishing memory for life and is suitable for both beginners and the most experienced fisherman.
