New art revealed: Head out on an inner journey in ICEHOTEL’s latest Deluxe Suite

ICEHOTEL reveals two new art suites inside its permanent part – a majestic pillar room and a multi-sensory space that will take you on an inner journey. Experience a sub-zero world of ice in the height of summer.

In the midst of summer, a glistening winter world awaits – the permanent part of ICEHOTEL is filled with art created out of crystal clear Arctic ice, a contrast against the lush greenery outside. The hotel consists of an ice bar, an ice gallery and 20 ice suites, nine of them with private sauna and relax, individually created and hand-sculpted by artists from all over the world. Visitors and overnight guests can now experience two brand new Art Suites at ICEHOTEL.

Like the seasonal suites, each suite inside the permanent part of the hotel will eventually melt back into Torne River and new art will take its place. This time a majestic pillar room and a multi-sensory space are revealed. The Deluxe Suite Lost and Found has its warm private sauna and relax, and its art and design is accompanied by music and sound written by poet and musician Petri ”Bette” Tuominen.

The artist behind the suite, Jens Thoms Ivarsson, has been creating ice art for 15 years, and was previously Creative Director at ICEHOTEL. This time it was time to try something new – combining music, voices, sound and design.

– The visitor is guided into their own inner world with help by sound, music and voices. The room, ice and design is half the experience, while the other half is the sound and light that interact and take the guest on their own, individual journey, says Jens Thoms Ivarsson.

A majestic pillar room

The second Art Suite is named Téckara, which means number nine in Kunza (a language spoken in the Andes), and is created by the sculptor and designer Javier Opazo from Chile. The suite got its name from the nine majestic pillars that stretch all the way up in the ceiling at shows off the suite’s magnificent vaulted roof.

– I think the visitors are going to feel overwhelmed by the high columns that stretch all the way to the ceiling. It is a magnificent feeling and a ceiling height of 4,7 meters, says, Javier Opazo.

Experience the new art and the rest of ICEHOTEL this summer. ICEHOTEL is open every day, year-round.
