Extraordinary Christmas celebrations at ICEHOTEL this year
Press Release September 27, 2017
Christmas and New Years are almost here and what brings a better holiday spirit than celebrating in a winter wonderland with near and dear? The Christmas celebrations at ICEHOTEL will be extraordinary this year.
Traditional Swedish Christmas food, snow covered adventures and Swedish Christmas traditions wait at ICEHOTEL in December. Head out on a northern lights tour on snowmobiles, create your own ice art and a sauna experience with an ice plunge are some of the activities you can do during your visit and there will be special activities for the holidays.
- Christmas market from December 16. Here you can get inspired by local handicrafts and buy last minute gifts to your loved ones. And between December 16–25, Santa will be at the market.
- Christmas buffet is served at The Old Homestead in Jukkasjärvi from November 24. Book a table to secure your spot. The buffet is classical Swedish Christmas food with local taste like reindeer steak, roast beef of moose and an exceptionally composed pickled herring buffet.
- Grand opening of ICEHOTEL Ceremony Hall is happening on December 26.
ICEHOTEL Ice Church becomes ICEHOTEL Ceremony Hall — a dedicated and spiritual place for weddings and ceremonies in the seasonal hotel. The design is made by the trio Tjåsa Gusfors, Wilfred Stijger & Edith van de Wetering who all have created previous Ice Churches at ICEHOTEL.
Celebrate the new year at ICEHOTEL
The New Year’s celebration at Icehotel is a memory of a lifetime. Or what about savoring a New Year’s dinner at Icehotel Restaurant, visit Icebar by Icehotel Jukkasjärvi and taste a cocktail served in ice glasses, to marvel at the hundreds of lanterns slowly rising towards the sky whilst the countdown to the new year is commencing at the river. When 2017 turns to 2018 the party continues with dance and celebrations inside Icehotel.
Welcome to celebrate an unforgettable Christmas and New Years at ICEHOTEL!
ICEHOTEL opened in 1989 and is not only a hotel but also an art exhibition with ever changing original art out of ice and snow. ICEHOTEL is created in a new guise every winter, completely made out of natural ice from Torne River, one of Sweden’s national rivers and last untouched waters. When the winter season’s hotel has melted back into the river in the spring, a part of the hotel still stands, a place where visitors can experience the ice and snow year-round. Welcome!
