ICEHOTEL paves way for beyond-the-box business meetings

This winter, ICEHOTEL launches “Creative Conference” – a new meeting concept aiming to provide executives and corporate leaders with an inspiring environment to craft new business ideas and make decisions for the future.

“Jukkasjärvi means ‘meeting place’ in Sami language, and since its inception the building has been used for creative purposes by our designers, photographers and artists.  With this concept, we want to blend tradition with the unconventional, and create a space that we felt inspires to new ideas”, says Arne Bergh of ICEHOTEL who project manages the new design.

The unique building is inspired by the culture of the indigenous Sami of the far northern parts of Scandinavia and Russia. Its octagon-shaped shell derives from their eight seasons of the year and the curious four-angled roof gets its dimensions from the traditional costume of the eastern Sami people “Fyra vindars mössa”, translating to “the hat of the four winds”.

Corporate groups can combine business with the “sleeping-on-ice” experience, snowmobile adventures and Mini Cooper ice driving. And, with scientists identifying rare solar activity, there are good prospects for another spectacular northern lights season. The in-house DMC covers arrangements across Arctic Scandinavia for small and large groups.

It never gets colder than -5 to -8 C
