ICEHOTEL at Euro 2016 in Paris
Ice from Torne river in Paris
In Jukkasjärvi, Icehotel has melted away and returned to the Torne River. However this summer you can experience the natural Torne River ice next to Hôtel du Ville in Paris, during the Euro 2016 football championships in France.
Until the 10th of July, Icehotel, together with the Embassy of Sweden, Volvo Cars and NIBE, presents a site-built installation – a tribute to the heritage of Sweden and Volvo through the Project By Sweden*. Visitors will be able to experience quintessential Swedish moments in the exhibit “Malmö by Zweden”, as well as sustainable Swedish design in a collaboration between Icehotel and Volvo Cars.
A preview of the ICEHOTEL 365 solar-energy Construction
The exhibit provides refreshing sub-zero temperatures in the middle of the Parisian summer, made possible by solar energy. This sustainable innovation, solar-driven refrigeration, will also be fully operational at Icehotel 365, which is currently under construction at the world-famous Icehotel Jukkasjärvi Sweden. It’s a year-round ice experience, powered by the same renewable, eco-friendly energy as is used at the Berges de l’Europe, at the square in front of Hôtel de Ville in Paris during Euro 2016.
