Good to know

Staying at ICEHOTEL is an experience unlike any other. That’s why we at ICEHOTEL give “survival courses” every night to our newly arrived guests as an introduction to sleep in minus degrees. All our guests that stay in our cold rooms will be checked in to a special warm building where you also keep your luggage and other equipment. The cold rooms will be vacated during daytime, as the hotel turns into an art installation for visitors.

No matter how cold it gets outside it will never be colder than -7ºC inside. Before going to bed you dress warmly in thermal underwear, pull your hat down over your ears and slide in to your sleeping bag on a bed built by ice blocks, a thick mattress and reindeer skins. In the morning you will be awakened with a cup of hot lingonberry juice before it’s time to enjoy a delightful sauna session, a delicious breakfast buffet and an array of different activities.

Most of our guests sleep one night in cold accommodation and several nights in warm.

Daytime ICEHOTEL opens for the public with guided tours through the hotel. Guided tours in swedish daily at 10 AM and 2 PM. Guided tours in english daily at 12 PM and 4 PM.

For the winter season 2013/2014, we offer snowmobile tours, dog sledding tours and northern lights, horse-, moose- and Sami arrangements. Additionally, you can try ice driving experiences, snow shoeing or cross-country skiing with our guides. Read more about our activities here.

We recommend that you book your activities at least three weeks prior to your stay to ensure that there is space for you on the excursions that you are interested in. If you are unsure about timings or have any other questions, please contact our booking department.

Food and beverage
Food is important to us at ICEHOTEL. We therefore offer something for all appetites and moods – a finer gourmet restaurant as well as places with a more homely feeling. Choose to visit ICEHOTEL Restaurant, The Old Homestead, our Lounge, The Porch (Verandan) and of course our popular ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL.

In Jukkasjärvi there is a small grocery store offering a basic range of goods. If you want a larger selection of shopping, a bank or a pharmacy, you need to visit Kiruna. In our ICEHOTEL Shop you can buy local souvenirs.
