What is ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL COPENHAGEN, and how is it connected to ICEHOTEL?
ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL COPENHAGEN is a unique venue located right on Strøget, created from 50 tons of crystal clear ice from the Torne River in northern Sweden. Here, ice art meets creative design, and guests can enjoy cocktails served in glasses made from the same ice. The bar is created by ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi – the world’s first hotel built entirely of ice and snow – making ICEBAR an extension of ICEHOTEL’s Arctic concept in the heart of Copenhagen. It’s a chance to step directly into a piece of the Arctic.
Is this the first ICEBAR in Copenhagen?
Yes, this is the first ICEBAR opened and operated directly by ICEHOTEL. There was previously an ice bar in Copenhagen, but it was not managed by ICEHOTEL and closed in 2012. ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL COPENHAGEN is also the first ICEBAR outside Sweden operated by ICEHOTEL, marking the start of an international expansion. When does ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL Copenhagen open?

Around 80% of the bar is accessible, including the bar counter and ice art areas. The lounge on the upper floor can only be reached by stairs. Toilets are located in the basement and accessible via a spiral staircase – there is unfortunately no accessible restroom. How often does ICEBAR change its design?
Each ICEBAR receives a new theme and design by selected artists once a year.Where does the ice come from?
The ICEBAR is built entirely from ice from the Torne River in northern Sweden. Every spring, around 2,000 tons of crystal-clear ice are harvested from the river. Most of it is used to create ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi – the world’s first hotel made of ice and snow – but a smaller portion, about 50 tons, is sent to ICEBARs around the world. In Copenhagen, the Arctic ice is transformed by talented ice artists into sculptures and design. When the ice eventually melts, it returns to the river – a circular artwork created by nature. How is ICEBAR kept cold?
The walls are carefully insulated to preserve the cold and maintain a stable temperature of –5 °C all year round. The cooling system runs on renewable energy, ensuring the Arctic experience remains as sustainable as possible. For more info, visit the ICEBAR BY ICEHOTEL Copenhagen website!
