WORLD-CLASS SKIING
Sweden’s northernmost ski resort, Riksgränsen, is located just 2 hours by car from Icehotel. Riksgränsen offers world-class skiing and is known for its fantastic off-piste skiing, but it also offers piste slopes and for more adventurous visitors – ski touring.
Riksgränsen is legendary and known as spring skiing capital of Europe, this is because the ski resort’s location makes it possible for skiing until the end of May. In addition, the slopes open up for a few days during midsummer and offer fantastic skiing under the golden midnight sun. Read more about Riksgränsen and see the snow report and piste map HERE.
The ski season in Riksgränsen is between mid/end of February until the end of May, and then some few days during midsummer (June).

SKI TOURING
In the area between Riksgränsen and Narvik, several hundred mountain peaks are offered and for those who wants a real adventure and great training, ski touring is the perfect way to enjoy the nature. Once your up at the top, you are greeted by a fantastic view where you can look out over the magical landscape before it’s time to fasten your ski boots again and go down through the untouched snow.
OFF-PIST
Easily accessible off-piste trails are available along the ski lopes. For those who want to be challenge, there are the well-known off-piste areas “Uffes Vägg”, “Rimfors” and Nordalsfjäll where the NM in extreme skiing takes place every year.

HELISKIING
Heliskiing is a fantastic skiing experience and a life enriching moment. Let the helicopter be your lift to the mountain, enjoy the magnificent snow-covered landscape and feel the freedom among natural snow and mountains. Together with a guide, you will be dropped at the top, together you will work your way back down through the soft powder snow in the winter silence surrounded by the white mountain ranges.

SKI PASS & OPENING HOURS
Ski passes can be purchased online and on site at the ski resort. The card gives you the possibility to skiing both in Björkliden and Riksgränsen.
Björkliden is located 30 minutes by car from Riksgränsen and 1.5 hours by car from Icehotel. Björkliden is known for a wider range of slopes in different levels – everything from green to black slopes and two off-piste areas
The ski season for Björkliden is between mid-February to the beginning of May. The ski season for Riksgränsen is from late February to the end of May.

HOW TO GET TO RIKSGRÄNSEN
The are several ways to get between Icehotel and Riksgränsen – by car or bus.
CAR
The road to Riksgränsen offers magical mountain scenery – snow-capped mountains and Torne swamp. Take the opportunity to take a break along the road overlooking Lapporten. By car it takes about 2 hours between Icehotel and Riksgränsen. Rent cars for example at Avis or at Hertz.
BUS
Take taxi from Icehotel to Kiruna Airport or Kiruna bus station (around 20 minutes). From there Länstrafik Norrbotten runs buses to and from Riksgränsen.
