Looking at Swedish Lapland from the sky, one is struck by a strong presence of lakes and a mountainous topography. Here, traces of earth's several evolutions and of a glacial melting are particulary noticeable. We would like to highlight this vast nature for ICEHOTEL 32.
Ginnungagap minaturises a part of the surrounding Arctic Landscape into a room. It tells us a story about the origin of our environment. While walking into a cave surrounded by frozen rivers, lakes and mountains, architectural creatures can be discovered. Each one offers various possibilities of interactions. Feel free to try.
Onomiau is a primitive architectural and design practice created in 2019 by Noël Picaper. Currently based in paris, the studio experiments a playful and relaxed style of spatial experiments a playful and relaxed style of the spatial interventions, and at the same time investigates structural and symbolic aspects of primitive architecture.
For the construction of Ginnungagap, Picaper is working with Louis de la Motte - a French cabinet maker based in Laval, as well as with Marion Jamault - an illustrator and film director. The three have already collaborated on several projects in the past.
