About the art suite

Open Wide is an immersive ice room that confronts the viewer with one of the most fundamental – and striking – gestures of the human body: The open mouth. Curved in monumental scale, a giant mouth dominated the room, frozen mid-breath, inviting guests to step into its cavernous interior.

The bed is positioned halfway inside the mouth, cradled on a raised platform that extends from the tounge. Here, the guest sleeps at the threshold, between the warmth of the breath and the chill of the room, surrounded by glistening snow and the silent architecture of teeth and gums.

Oversized ice molars are scattered throughout the space, like frozen furniture. Their smooth, translucent surfaces catch the light, evoke both familiarity and unease.

Open Wide explores themes of vulnerability, consumption and invitation. It is both a welcoming embrace and a primal challenge. The room plays with contrast – beauty and discomfort, shelter and exposure – encouraging guests to reflect on the spaces we enter, both literally and figuratively. 

At once surreal and intimate, Open Wide is a frozen moment of expression, transformed into a place of rest.
