Art Suite Skogsrå by Emilie Steele & Sara Steele

About the art suite

The room is inspired by Swedish folklore: Skogsrået, a forest spirit and guardian of the woods.

The suite is separated by a wall, creating two rooms in one. When you walk in you are met by a barn owl made of ice, and on the left you see a hollowed-out tree carved inside the wall, the Skogsrå’s back, as portrayed in the tales.

Through an opening, you step into the next room where the bed, growing out of the ground, is guarded by a fox and a hare carved from ice. On the wall facing the bed, the Skogsrå is peeping out from behind a tree, welcoming you to sleep soundly in her domain.

Skogsrå is a celebration of the sacred feminine, a reminder of the wild, untameable energy in us.
